Network Interface Card Configuration Settings

If large amounts of data are created and streamed from the Recorder, possibly due to very large video resolutions or because multiple Recorders execute on a single recording PC, then the default Network Interface Card (NIC) settings may be insufficient for the data flow. Such limitations can lead to long periods of "buffering" in the applications receiving the streamed media data.

If issues of buffering are encountered, take the following steps:

  1. Update the NIC firmware and driver to their most recent versions.
  2. Review and increase the NIC Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) size. Many MTU defaults are set at 1514. Adjust this setting to 8000.
  3. Review and increase the NIC Receive Buffer size. Adjust this setting to at least 362.
