Redact or edit a WMV file using Total Recorder Video Pro



Introduction

If you have been provided with a PDF file of an interview, then you may extract the audio / video file from inside the PDF file and redact the audio / video file using Total Recorder Professional.

The page below shows the redaction of a WMV file using Total Recorder Video Pro, a program available from the developers of the Liberty System, High Criteria Inc.

Redacting a WMV file is accomplished in 4 quick steps:

  • Open the WMV file in Total Recorder Video Pro.
  • Identify the beginning of the fragment to be removed.
  • Identify the end of the fragment to be removed.
  • Delete the fragment and Save the updated WMV file.

The 4 steps are shown in the following screen captures.

Drag the Position icon to the beginning of the fragment to be removed. Note: The fragment to be removed must begin and end on a Key Frame. Use the Jump to Key Frame button to adjust the Position icon to a Key frame, if required. There will be about 4 Key Frames per second, so this jump will be for only a fraction of a second.

Click the Set Beginning button to set the beginning point of the fragment to be removed.

Drag the Position icon to the end of the fragment to be removed. Note: The fragment to be removed must begin and end on a Key Frame. Use the Jump to Key Frame button to adjust the Position icon to a Key frame, if required. There will be about 4 Key Frames per second, so this jump will be for only a fraction of a second.
